          Jimmie Davis

Music to me is not just to sing in the shower or the car. Jimmie Davis was not only a singer and song writer but he was the 47th governor of Louisiana. Just a fun fact about him, they say his birthday was September 11 but there are no records of it. He is the original singer of “You Are My Sunshine”. The song “You Are My Sunshine” also was honored with a Grammy of Hall Of Fame. This song means the most to me because my mother and grandmothers used to sing this song to me whenever I was upset or when it was time for bed. Now that I have a child of my own it is even more special to me because now I can sing it to him before bed and anytime during the day. I love this song because it really says how I feel about my son. “You are my sunshine my only sunshine you make me happy when skies are gray.” This part of the song means the most to me because my son is like the light of my life. He can make any day and every day perfect.

This is the album of his most famous song "you are my sunshine"

  1. I had no idea this song was such a classic, let alone written by a governor! My mom used to sing it to me while the music box played the tune. I would listen to the original, but at the same time, I don't want it to ruin the version my mom would sing, since I still have that in my memory from long ago.
